Holiday Shopping Season Prep for Your Business

It’s almost that time of year when people open their wallets and spend money on gifts, clothes, new toys, and things they may not normally buy during the rest of the year.

It’s the holiday shopping season. During October through December, it becomes a very busy time of year for businesses, stores, boutiques, and online shops.

If you have something to sell, this is the time of year to make sure you close the year on a positive note with a healthy amount of sales.

That’s a lot of pressure for 3 months out of the year.

But, don’t worry. I’m here to make sure your business is ready for the busy holiday shopping season.

How to Prepare Your Business for the Holiday Shopping Season

The more prepared you are before the start of the holiday shopping season, the easier things will be for your business (and your sanity).

If you are thinking of running any special promotions or discounts for the holidays, then these tips will super important for you.

Plan ahead for shipping delays

The number one complaint during the holiday shopping season is shipping delays. Now, these are usually outside your control and in the hands of the postal and delivery services, but there are some things you can do to make it a bit easier on yourself and your customers.

Make sure you clearly outline on your website, you clearly outline the potential for shipping delays. Overestimate (not too much) to be on the safe side.

If you have a postal or delivery carrier that you primarily use, create a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) with their information and how to contact them to track a package.

It also doesn’t hurt to start your promotions or discounts a bit earlier to try to beat some of the holiday rush.

Plan your promotion or discount in advance

The holiday shopping season is already hectic on its own. You don’t need to be fulfilling your orders AND managing your marketing all at the same time. Plan ahead so you can give yourself ample time to write your emails, social copy, and ads. As well as creating any graphics or videos that you may need.

Automate

When you plan your promotion or discount for the holiday shopping season ahead of time, you also have the chance to automate! Automating will free up soo much of your time so you can focus on making sure your orders are delivered smoothly and your customers have an amazing experience.

There are many ways to automate including scheduling your social media posts ahead of time and scheduling your promotional emails. You can also automate certain steps or tasks to fulfill your orders such as sending tracking numbers, order confirmations, and emails asking for a review. The more you can automate, the more time you will have!
