How to Avoid Social Media Burnout
Social media burnout is a very real thing. And it feels like it's 10x worse when you rely on social media to generate sales and grow your business. I've seen too many business owners like you get stuck in the never-ending cycle of spending all their time and energy on social media. Only to be left feeling burnout and tired with not much to show for it. But lately, we have been led to believe that social media is the only way to market your business. Conditioned to feel that without it, there's no possible way to grow your business. But that's not true. Marketing is way more versatile than people think.
How to avoid burnout as a small business owner
Social media isn't the only way to market your business. There are so many other ways that tend to get overlooked. Let's talk about a few alternatives and how to keep social media in your back pocket without that feeling of dread every time you sign on.
Take Mental Breaks
Give yourself a break from social media every now and then. Schedule your post ahead of time, but limit how much time you spend scrolling. Part of social media burnout could be that you're consuming too much content. Schedule times in the day to actually check, scroll and engage. But also schedule one day per week to not be on social media. Use that time to connect with loved ones, do something you love or just relax.
Hire or Ask for Help
You don't have to go through business ownership alone. Make the time to build relationships with other business owners who can offer support, advice, or that you can hire for the things you need. A social media manager will save you a ton of time on your social media efforts by zoning in on a strategy, content plan, posting, and engagement schedule. Or, a virtual assistant can help you with managing your comments or messages and responding to your social media audience.
Figure out the Balance
What works for someone else may not work for you. Finding the right balance of what needs to be done to achieve your goals can be tough, but it's so important to avoid burnout. Oftentimes, burnout stems from not knowing if what you're doing aligns with your end goals. So it feels like you're working aimlessly.

Create a Marketing Strategy
A marketing strategy can eliminate a lot of the challenges small business owners face when trying to grow their business. With a marketing strategy, you can set up a lead-generating system that does all the work for you. It takes the guesswork out of where you need to focus your efforts and why. A marketing strategy allows you to grow your business in an intentional and strategic way. Talk about the next level of efficiency. So if you feel like you're spending all your time on social media, take a step back and assess if you have a marketing strategy in place. If you do, your marketing strategy is relying too heavily on social media and it might be time to explore other options!
